3rd CSIT World Sports Games are opened

"I declare the 3rd CSIT World Sports Games in Varna 2013 open". Monday evening, CSIT President Harald Bauer officially opened the World Sports Games for amateurs after a spectacular Opening Ceremony in the "Palace of Culture and Sports" in the city of Varna - the sea capital of Bulgaria.

From June 2nd to 9th more than 2.500 athletes from 32 member unions out of 28 countries will participate in 20 different disciplines and fight for the title of their international champion. 

Games hosted by BWF

The 3rd CSIT World Sports Games are hosted by the Bulgarian Workers Federation "Sport and Health" together with CITUB and the Varna Municipality. Harald Bauer is looking forward to witness perfect games in Varna: "The Bulgarian Host Union has 10 years of experience in organizing big sports events. With trust in our Bulgarian friends we are convinced to see well organized competitions under the rules and values of CSIT."

Doping Tests for the first time

The CSIT recognized by the IOC, supports the IOC in its fight for a clean sport and therefore signed the WADA Code in 2010. As a consequence Anti-Doping measures will be taken during the Varna Games; for the first time in the 100 year long history of the Workers Sport Movement. "Doping is a big topic not only in professional sports, but also in the Sports for All movement. Therefore we signed the WADA Code and support the IOC in its fight against doping", stated CSIT President Harald Bauer.
