Innovations for the WSG 2019 tested:
The Technical Commission Volleyball was developing a new format for Beach- & Indoorvolleyball, namely mixed competitions. Within the frame of those championships it has been organized, in an additional program as well as in a friendly way, a test competition of Mixed Beachvolleyball by teams of 2 players (a man and a woman). This tournament brought together 8 teams, composed of players participating in the Championship and was won by a Lithuanian team.
The participants greatly appreciated this tournament and were enthusiastic about this new approach "mixed doubles" in Beachvolleyball. This test is therefore a great success, the Technical Commission will innovate by proposing to organize for the first time in the CSIT at the next World Games in Tortosa Mixed Beachvolleyball Championships, as well as a Mixed Indoorvolleyball Championships.
The awards were presented to the winners by Mr. Thierry de Longchamp - Cairman of CSIT's Volleyball Technical Commission and Mr. Fabrizio Gherardi - Secretary of the Volleyball Technical Commission (responsible for Beachvolleyball).
