Teams from various countries were invited to see the tennis courts even one day before the tournament start. The tennis complex was situated in very nice surroundings and six tennis hard courts were at disposal for the tournament.
The tournament started on Monday and each team played one team match every day, starting at 10 o’clock in the morning. A team match consisted of 3 men’s singles, 1 women’s single, 1 men’s double and one mixed double. For the first time chair-umpires were available on the courts and this was extraordinary, because usually the players of CSIT Championships keep the score on their own. It was very good that there were score-boards on the courts, so the spectators could follow the matches from the sideline. The tournament was very well organized and two lady-interpreters operated as very important link between the local organizing team and the international CSIT community.
The Mexican winner team and congratulations from CSIT Tennis chairman Harald Burghardt from Austria
“Gran final”: Very exciting was the last day of the tournament, because the final result for the tournament was depending on the results of the last matches played that day.
The Mexican CSIT member union and host INDET – Instituto del Deporte de los Trabajadores – had made a fantastic job by organizing this tournament and the players were very well taken care of. All participants agreed, the Mexican hospitality was unique!
