CSIT in China

China Workers' Center for International Exchange (CWCIE) invited the CSIT with President Harald Bauer and Secretary General Wim Hoeijenbos leading the way, also Administrative Secretary Wolfgang Burghardt and Journalist Raimund Fabi for a visit to Beijing November 15th - 20th, 2010.

Arriving in China on Monday November 15th, the CSIT leadership was surprised with a welcome banquet offered by Mr. Zhang Guoxian, Secretary General of the CWCIE. During this banquet they have been informed more detailed about the program of the coming week.

Tuesday November 16th in the morning a visit was planned in the Capital Museum of Beijing, which is a very new and spacious museum (2008) with a very fascinating collection.

In the afternoon the opening ceremony took place of the "2010' International Workers' Sports Games of China".  Participants from Russia, Mongolia, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Tunisia, Bulgaria and of course China participated in swimming, badminton, tug of war, table tennis, street ball and bowling. Opening speeches were given by CWCIE President Zhenhuan Xu  and CSIT President Harald Bauer. Performances of dancing, acrobatics and singing completed the spectacular opening ceremony.

Also fruitful talks were hold with representatives of possible new CSIT member unions from Singapore, Japan, Mongolia and Vietnam within the framework of the open ceremony.

Next day was a day of intensive sightseeing at the "Great Wall of China" at Badaling, the "Birds Nest"  (Olympic Stadium) and the "Water Cube" in the Olympic Park and the finally the "Forbidden City".

Thursday and Friday the CSIT representatives have been invited by the Shanghai Airport Authorities and its chairman Mr. Cai Jun, who brought them to Shanghai together with the team of ONSCT of Tunisia under the leadership of Mr. Moncef Bartegi. Ideas of possible exchanges, some sports practice in table tennis and street ball and of course a welcome dinner completed with some sightseeing in the late evening and the next morning our surprise visit in Shanghai. Everybody was impressed by the spectacular view of the skyline at the riverside in Shanghai. In this context thanks a lot to our friends of the CWCIE branch in Shanghai for their warm hospitality.

The day after, Saturday, most of the delegates and teams went back home being fascinated by the very modern cities of Beijing and Shanghai and the very spontaneous and overwhelming hospitality shown by our new member of CSIT, the CWCIE.
