AICS' community meeting VERDE AZZURRO in Italy
AICS' community meeting "Verde Azzurro": national sport championships and pragmatic strategies of social policies
Lot of sports, discussions and social strategies: this is the meaning of Verde Azzurro, the main event organised by AICS (Italian Association for Culture and Sports) that every year is the seat of national championships of several athletics disciplines. Last edition has taken place in Lignano-Sabbiadoro between the 9th and the 12th of September and it has gathered more than 1500 athletes, footballer and tennis, volleyball, basketball players. The event is to boost sports with less media exposure and to celebrate them. Verde Azzurro it is not only competition, but first of all it represents an occasion to share sport passions and values. It is also a moment for thinking about topical facts concerning sociality.

On Friday afternoon it has been the occasion to talk with CSIT President Harald Bauer who reinforces their engagement for an international collaboration to renew and to sustain social strategies. Further points of his speech have concerned CSIT s' future proposition in the view of a European planning for social policy and the involvement of Italy in these initiatives. During the meeting were planned common projects to gain European financing.

On Saturday morning, there has been a meeting in the presence of all the main representatives of Italian sport organizations and Bruno Molea AICS chairman and the most important figure of Italian sport: Giovanni Petrucci president of CONI (Italian Olympic Committee). The debate, titled Sport for citizenship: the values of solidarity in sport has pointed out the need of answering to the lack of social policies in our country, caused by several years of careless political administration. Considering that, all sports realities including sports federations, organisations pursuing sport advancement and CONI, based on shared values, must co-operate to play a key role towards authorities.
Due to the high concentration of people over 60 years in our country, about 12 million people, Verde Azzurro has reserved particular attention to third age group. The association works on territory to analyze what elderly persons need and to popularize the benefit resulting from doing sport during third age. It pursues activities according with elderly persons requirements with the aim to maintain their psychophysical health and to improve quality of their life.
